"The effect of the IRS interpretation is that practitioners can completely disregard SEHI in computing earned income for retirement plan purposes. This means that the 164(f) deduction for 50% of SE Tax may be greater than the deduction actually shown on the return. The practitioner must recompute the deduction without regard to SEHI."
