We were up North near Bancroft visiting my now fiance's grandparents. At the time I was about 4 months pregnant with my second child. Belly is growing a bit, emotions are everywhere and anywhere. Food is the greatest part of the day. We were playing a game of hearts, and I was losing badly. After we were finished I went downstairs and just broke down. It doesnt take much to overwhelm an emotional pregnant lady and nothing was going my way that day. I'm feeling bigger, unattractive, can't do anything right, wanted to sleep in my own bed, wanted to be home. So I just cried. He came downstairs and realized what was going on. Just held me. Held on tight and comforted me. He decided we would take a shower together to just relax. The water was calming, I felt everything release. After minutes of standing in the hot water, just holding me... He gently grabs my chin and pulls my head to look at his and says... "Will you marry me?" No ring, no candles, just us, as we are, it was perfect. This coming from the man who I thought I would be lucky to get a ring 4 years from then. That we would never have our now beautiful son together, our daughter. We have now been engaged about a year and married next year, August 3rd, 2018 on my grandparents 50th anniversary. They started when my grandma was 16 and have made it through three children, many losses and gains, life threatening situations, now fighting their illnesses together, almost 50 years of marriage! My goal for my marriage isnt perfection it's to work hard everyday with the man I've waited this whole life for. I wait in every life for him, just two old souls together again in this life, until the next. He will always be the one. Thank god he didnt purpose in the mall food court like he joked about. |
