Compounding Pharmacies*

Asking your doctor to write a Compounding prescription is essential to your success on the Point of Return Program.  Benzodiazepines, Sleeping Pills and Antidepressants are not commercially available in small enough dosages to titrate safety and comfortably. However, compounding pharmacies are facilities that can tailor prescription drug formulas in gradually reducing doses to meet our guidelines.

Many people want to reduce their own medication. However, if you have attempted to slice small amounts off your pills, you already know how difficult that is. Pill sizes are tiny and attempting to shave segments is extremely unpredictable. Withdrawing by accurate reduction amounts minimizes symptoms by allowing your central nervous system time to adjust at each level of the taper.

Compounding is the only way to ensure accuracy in dose reductions. So please, engage the assistance of your physician to provide a compounding prescription.  Just as with any prescription medication, you must have a prescription from a licensed medical professional for your medication to be compounded.

The Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB) has provided a list of compounding pharmacies by state. You can do a websearch to find a compounding pharmacy near you or contact one of the pharmacies listed, some of which are familiar with our protocols. http://www.pccarx.com.  You can also call this national phone number to find one near you at 800-331-2499.

*International clients must locate a pharmacy within your country.

Warning:
*Additionally, please be aware that some compounding pharmacists recommend progesterone, or other modalities.  We believe that any hormone therapy should be done in person with a medical professional that specializes in hormone therapy.  Frequent retesting should be done (approximately every 3 months) to ensure your hormones remained balanced. Many items can also interact with your medications so exercise caution when introducing new modalities.  Click here to learn more.
