You are surrounded by rolling countryside that offers surprises at almost every turn.

The restaurant is typical of small villages of the region in that it is also has a separate bar area where the locals meet over coffee or a glass of wine to discuss the events of the day.
It offers pizzas and
traditional fare at good prices and is a good place to
join the locals for lunch - Self-service buffet for
starters, main course, cheese board plus a sweet for 12 euros.
Local red wine and bread are included in the price.
Check opening times, as
it varies with the seasons and book for evening dining,
more out of courtesy than necessity.
The outside terrace area looks on to the
boulodrome
square.
'Grande Rue'
The local music festival 'Festival des
Barroudeurs, which is now in its 12th year, is held in the
village on the first Saturday of July (2nd) with an eclectic
mix of artists
If you are in the area you should give it a
visit - always a unique experience!
There are many pleasant walks around the village and
along the river. The local tourist office in
Le Grand Pressigny
will also
provide maps for all the 'marked-out' walks in all the
surrounding villages
The
more
adventurous can walk to the bridge just before the neighbouring village
of
Lesigny (2km)
where at '
Le
bout du pont'
there is
safe
river swimming as well as a picnic area.
There is a lifeguard on duty during July and August.
Descartes kayak
club offer trips back down river from the village.
At Barrou you are in the heart of
Southern Touraine
which has its own delights close at
hand such as Chateau
Le Guerche
(5mins)as well as having
access to the neighbouring department of Vienne such as

Futuroscope
'
just outside Poitiers and the nearby
town(10km) of
La Roche Posay
with its casino, racecourse and 18
hole golf course.
You are also only 30 minutes away the
La Brenne Natural Parc
which is an ideal site to visit for bird
watching and trecking
